4 traditional eid dishes from around the world perfect for ‘Eid Al-Adha’

Food is an integral part of the celebration when it comes to any festival! And the holy festival Eid Al Adha, which literally means the “sacrifice feast”, is celebrated across the world by Muslims preparing traditional Eid Al Adha food comprising elaborate dishes and desserts.

1) Tagine from Morocco
Named after the earthenware pot in which it is cooked, Tagine is a Moroccan dish that is popular across North Africa and is savoured worldwide during Eid Al Adha celebrations (also otherwise).

This super-delicious recipe comprises of slow-cooked, savoury stews laced with ingredients like poultry, meat, or fish, steamed to a juicy perfection along with vegetables.

2) Oruk (Baked Icli Kofte) from Turkey
Known as Kurban Bayramı in Turkey, Eid Al Adha is celebrated with gusto where elaborate family feasts are prepared. One dish that turns up at all festive occasions is “Oruk” that’s originally from Antakya, Turkey.

These are delicious baked meatballs made from bulgur dough and semolina that are stuffed with ground meat like beef, crushed walnuts, grated onions, and an assortment of herbs and spices like parsley, black pepper, cumin, red pepper, and salt. Drool-worthy, right?!

3) Roast lamb popular across all Middle-Eastern countries
There’s no way you can celebrate Eid Al-Adha 2019 and not indulge yourself in some salacious roast lamb – a popular and traditional Eid dish across the Middle East!

Lamb being the traditional Eid Al Adha food, every inch of this recipe screams Eid Mubarak! For this heavenly recipe to become a reality, the meat is coated with spices, herbs, and butter, before being slow-roasted to savoury tenderness, in an oven.

4) Nalli Nihari from India
With its roots in India (Delhi or Lucknow), this insanely delectable, melt-in-the-mouth Eid speciality first found its place in the kitchens of the Moghul royalty.

Slowly garnering fame across the world, Nalli Nihari is a slow-cooked meat gravy (mainly lamb or beef, along with bone marrow) garnished with flavoursome spices, fresh vegetables, and coriander leaves.
