A teacher was at the receiving end of a mob beating for allegedly sexually assaulting a second grade student in the capital area of Shipahibagh.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Khilgaon police station, Md Farukur Rahman confirmed the incident to media.
He said that the teacher was handed over to the police immediately after the beating on Monday night.
The accused was identified as Abu Salek, who is in his forties.
Salek allegedly sexually assaulted a girl who went to him for private tuition, said the OC, quoting the family of the minor.
The victim’s family is set to file a case over the incident with Khilgaon police station.
Meanwhile, a video showing locals beating on Salek while he is tied to a tree in Shipahibagh has been making it rounds on Facebook.
