At least 24 bodies were recovered and 30 others missing after a boat sank in Karatoya River under Boda upazila of Panchagarh district on Sunday.
The accident took place around 3:30 pm in the area. The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.
Superintendent of police of Panchagarh SM Sirajul Huda said that the boat carrying 70-80 passengers including women and children sank in the middle of the river while heading towards Badheshwar temple on the occasion of Mahalaya from Mareya Aulia ghat around 2:30 pm.
