Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader speaks at the triennial conference of Jhenaidah District Awami League held on Jhenaidah Water Development Board ground on Sunday afternoon.

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has urged BNP to forget about caretaker government, claiming that it has already gone to the museum.

“Stop daydreaming of the restoration of the caretaker government system ahead of the next general elections, because it has already been sent to the museum,” he told the triennial conference of Jhenaidah District Awami League held on Jhenaidah Water Development Board ground on Sunday afternoon.

Speaking as the chief guest, Quader said seeing the development of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s government, the BNP leaders have become irritated and they have been conducting a movement to bring the lost throne of Hawa Bhaban back.

Criticising the BNP, he said inhabitants of Jhenidah district are now going to Dhaka by Padma Bridge. But, they cannot tolerate it. Fakhrul has become upset. “BNP’s Hawa Bhaban will never come back. Their dreams will never come true.”

Quader said the BNP has started nomination trade and it also begins a process of making lawmakers by collecting money from them.

Asking the BNP leaders not to cross their limit, Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, said: “Your (BNP’s) movement falls flat and you will be defeated in polls too”.

AL joint general secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif inaugurated the conference hoisting the national flag and releasing colourful balloons into the sky.

With Jhenidah district Awami League president Abdul Hye MP in the chair, the first session of the conference began at about 11:30am.

Moderated by Jhenidah District Awami League general secretary Saidul Karim Mintu, the conference was also addressed by the party’s joint general secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim, organising secretary BM Mozammel Haque and executive members Advocate Amirul Alam Milon MP, Parveen Zaman Kalpana, Tahjib Alam Siddiqui MP from Jhenidah-2 constituency, Shafiqul Azam Khan Chanchal MP from Jhenidah-3 constituency, Anwarul Azim Anar MP from Jhenidah-4 constituency and Gloria Sarkar Jharna, among others.
