Dengue claims 3 more lives in a day, 425 hospitalised

Another three people have died of dengue fever in the last 24 hours in the country, climbing the death toll from the deadly disease in the country to 51. During the same period, 425 people have been admitted to the hospital, increasing the total number of hospitalised patients due to the Aedes-borne mosquito disease to 13,188.
The information was obtained in a report sent from the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Tuesday (July 8).

The report says that from 8:00 am on Monday to 8:00 am on Tuesday, Barishal again topped the most affected dengue cases, with 120 new people admitted to the hospital in this district.

It said that in the last 24 hours, 98 dengue patients have been detected in the Chattogram (outside the City Corporation-CC area), 36 outside Dhaka, 18 in Khulna, 11 in Mymensingh, 48 in Rajshahi, and one in Sylhet division. At the same time, 38 patients have been admitted to hospitals in Dhaka North, while 55 patients have been hospitalised in Dhaka South City Corporation.

The report also said that 377 dengue patients have been discharged from the hospital in the last 24 hours. With this, a total of 11,786 patients have been discharged from the hospital so far this year.

As of July 8 this year, a total of 13,188 people have been diagnosed with dengue. Of these, 60.5 percent are men and 39.5 percent are women.

From January to December 31, 2024, a total of 101,214 people were diagnosed with dengue and a total of 575 people died from the deadly disease. Previously, from January 1 to December 31, 2023, a total of 1,705 people died from dengue, while a total of 321,179 people were hospitalised.
