Chief Adviser (CA) Professor Muhammad Yunus told the foreign officers participating in the DSCSC course that the nation was able to rapidly overcome the crisis and restore stability thanks to the country’s unity and the support of the armed forces.
He said that this unity allowed progress toward fulfilling all national hopes and aspirations—because the armed forces stood beside the people.

He made these remarks on Wednesday at the certificate awarding ceremony for the 2025 course of the Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC), held at the DSCSC Complex in Mirpur Cantonment.

Speaking about the interim government’s commitment to reform programmes, the Chief Adviser said that returning to the past would render all sacrifices meaningless. “We must build the country of our dreams. That was the resolve behind the reforms. Reform is one thing, but completing them properly is crucial—we must also recognize the need to avoid repeating past mistakes.”

Regarding the prosecution of crimes committed during the student-people uprising in July of last year, he said, “We must ensure justice for those who committed these horrific crimes against us.”

Addressing the foreign officers participating in the DSCSC course, Professor Yunus added that their participation reflects Bangladesh’s strong global defense partnerships. He expressed hope that their connections with the Staff College and with Bangladesh would continue in the future.

According to ISPR, 170 officers from the Bangladesh Army, 45 from the Navy, and 36 from the Air Force completed graduation in the DSCSC Course 2025. In addition, 3 officers from the Bangladesh Police and 58 officers from China, India, Indonesia, Iran, Jordan, Kenya, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Liberia, Malaysia, Maldives, Mali, Nepal, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, Palestine, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Turkey, and Uganda took part.

In total, 311 trainees graduated this year. Among them were 14 women officers, including one from the Bangladesh Police—reflecting the institution’s commitment to women’s inclusion and empowerment.

The Defence Services Command and Staff College is an internationally reputed institution of the Bangladesh Armed Forces, dedicated to preparing mid-level officers for higher responsibilities and leadership roles.

Since its establishment, the college has trained 5,329 officers of the Bangladesh Armed Forces, 20 police officers, and 1,465 foreign military officers from 45 friendly nations—a total of 6,814 officers.
