The ‘July March and Road Meeting’ program of the National Citizens Party (NCP) was held in Fulbari Upazila of Dinajpur. The program, organized at Nimtali intersection from 10 pm to 10:30 pm on Friday (July 5), was concluded with a brief speech. Later, the leaders left for Bogura.
About 150-200 supporters were present at the road meeting led by the convener of the National Citizens Party, Md. Nahid Islam. Among the leaders present were Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain, Chief Organizer of the Northern Region, Sarjis Alam, Chief Organizer of the Southern Region, Hasnat Abdullah, Chief Coordinator Nasir Uddin Patwari, Senior Convener Samantha Sharmin, Senior Joint Member Secretary Dr. Tasnim Zara, Senior Joint Chief Coordinator Abdul Hannan Masud and Joint Chief Coordinator Dr. Abdul Ahad.

Convener Nahid Islam said in his speech, “July-August is the month of resistance and sacrifice in our national history. Students of Dinajpur gave their lives against fascist tyranny, became martyrs. We pray for the forgiveness of the souls of those martyrs. The National Citizen Party is the party of the common man—we want a Bangladesh of dignity, a democratic Bangladesh without discrimination, where the rights of farmers and workers are ensured.”

He also said, “This July-August, we will have to issue the ‘July Declaration’, which will be based on fundamental reforms, the trial of the July genocide, and the foundation of a new constitution. Our youth will lead that.”

Regarding Fulbari, he said, “The farming community here is neglected. Many young people from this region have given their lives by participating in mass uprisings in various places, including Dhaka University. We remember their sacrifice. Dinajpur is a border area where Bangladeshi citizens are losing their lives in BSF firing. Indian exiles are being pushed into Bangladesh illegally. We strongly protest and condemn this.”

At the end of the discussion, the leaders sought everyone’s cooperation for the development of Fulbari and Dinajpur and expressed optimism, “NCP will stand by the people in building a dignified Bangladesh, we will walk the path together.”
