Dr. Asif NazrulAbu Sayed’s murder case will be tried during Interim Govt’s rule

Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Dr. Asif Nazrul today said that the murder of martyr Abu Sayed will be tried during the tenure of the interim government.
“Abu Sayed is the hero of July. I am sure, I firmly believe that the murder of Abu Sayed will be tried during the tenure of the Interim Government,” he made these remarks at a discussion meeting organised at the Independence Memorial Ground of Begum Rokeya University in Rangpur (BRUR) on Wednesday afternoon (July 16).
The BRUR administration organised the meeting to mark the martyrdom anniversary of Abu Sayed, the first martyr of the anti-discrimination student movement, and July Shaheed Day.
At that time, regarding the trial process of Abu Sayed and other martyrs, Professor Asif Nazrul said, “I cannot give a date for the trial. If I give a specific date, then the independence of the judiciary will be interfered with. The trial is going on at full speed. There is no negligence on the part of anyone.”
Earlier, at 6:30 am, a march from the campus to Babanpur village in Jafarpara, Pirganj Upazila, a visit to the grave of Martyr Abu Sayed at 7:30 am, a red badge wearing and mourning rally at 9:15 am, laying the foundation stone of the Martyr Abu Sayeed arch and museum at the university at 10:15 am, and laying the foundation stone of the Shaheed Abu Sayeed memorial at the Shaheed Abu Sayeed square adjacent to the university at 10:15 am were held.
The discussion was chaired by the BRUR registrar, Dr. Harun Or Rashid, and chaired by the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Shawkat Ali. The chief guest was Maqbul Hossain, the father of Martyr Abu Sayed. The special guests were relatives of the family of the martyrs of the July Revolution. The honoured guests were Syeda Rizwana Hasan, an adviser to the Ministry of Water Resources and the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change.
Bangladesh University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Professor Dr. SMA Fayez, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Education Siddique Jobayer, and Bangladesh University Grants Commission Member Professor Dr. Tanzimuddin Khan, teachers and students of the university were also present.
