‘Mass uprising to receive constitutional recognition, protesters to get legal protection’

Interim Government Chief Adviser (CA) Professor Muhammad Yunus has said that the mass uprising is justifiable, lawful, and internationally recognized. He stated that the uprising will receive constitutional recognition, with the declaration incorporated into the schedule of the Constitution, and that all participants in the movement will receive legal protection.
He made this remark on Tuesday (August 5) evening while announcing the “July Declaration.”
The Chief Adviser said, “The people of Bangladesh express the intent that the 2024 Student-People’s Uprising will receive due state and constitutional recognition, and this declaration will be incorporated into the schedule of the reformed Constitution of the government elected in the next election.”
Earlier, he began reading the declaration at the central stage on the South Plaza of the Parliament building shortly after 5:15 pm.
The declaration has been identified as a commemorative document of the 2024 mass uprising. The government finalized it after consultations with various political parties. A consensus was also reached among the parties regarding its state and constitutional recognition.
On stage with Professor Yunus were top leaders of several political parties. From the BNP, Standing Committee members Salahuddin Ahmed, Nazrul Islam Khan, Mirza Abbas, and Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan were present.
