Govt to provide loan of Tk47cr on Youth Day

Director General (DG) of the Department of Youth Development, Dr Gazi Md Saifuzzaman, has said the government will provide loans worth Tk 47 crore 26 lakh 14 thousand to 4,985 youth on the occasion of Youth Day.
He gave the information at a press conference held at the Secretariat on Monday. Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Md Mahbub-ul-Alam, was present at the time.

Dr Gazi Md Saifuzzaman said, “National and International Youth Day will be celebrated on August 12. The Department of Youth Development continues its activities to involve youth in work-oriented training, self-employment loans, organization-based voluntary and service activities, to transform technology-based youth power into human resources by utilizing the victory of youth after the July Uprising. With the great vow of transforming the youth community, who won the war against discrimination and injustice, into human resources through modern scientific-minded technical training, post-training financial and material support, about 200,000 youth are engaged in employment and self-employment every year.”

He further said, “Like every year, this year too, awards are being given on National Youth Day in recognition of excellence in youth activities. In the past one year, the Department of Youth Development has trained 271,719 people aged 18 to 35 in various trades. On the occasion of National and International Youth Day, 2,534 young men and 2,451 young women will be given youth loans worth Tk 47 crore 26 lakh 14 thousand.”

The DG of the Department of Youth Development said, “1,076 youth have been trained in traffic management and social awareness to work as assistants to the traffic police to restore order on the roads. Youth festival has been celebrated through various programmes in Dhaka and other divisions, districts and upazilas. 64 canals and water bodies have been cleaned in 64 districts through self-employed workers, entrepreneurs, trainees and volunteer youth organizations.”

He added, “The Department of Youth Development is conducting freelancing training, setting up environment-friendly biogas plants in 64 districts, and computer training programmes in remote areas through mobile vans to transform youth energy into wealth.”
