The Law Ministry has suspended former Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Rezaul Karim after his name was implicated in a corruption incident. A notification was issued by the Law and Justice Division of the Law Ministry recently, in consultation with the Supreme Court, suspending him.
His suspension became public on Monday (October 13).

A notification in this regard has been issued by the Law and Justice Division of the Ministry of Law by order of the President.

The notification said that a case has been filed against former Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Rezaul Karim Chowdhury, currently attached to the Ministry of Law, on charges of misconduct under the disciplinary rules of the Bangladesh Supreme Judicial Service. Considering the seriousness of the charges brought against him, it appears reasonable to the authorities to suspend him temporarily.

Rezaul Karim Chowdhury has been suspended in accordance with Rule 11 of the Bangladesh Supreme Judicial Service Disciplinary Rules-2017 in consultation with the Supreme Court. This order will come into effect immediately.
