Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of the Inqilab Manch and potential candidate for Dhaka-8 constituency, has died (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Rajiun).

His body will be brought home on Friday (December 19) and the burial will be completed after the funeral tomorrow, Saturday, family and related sources have confirmed.

On Thursday night, Dr. Md. Abdul Ahad, a doctor at the Neurosurgery Department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) and member secretary of the National Health Alliance (NHA), confirmed the matter.

Earlier, he died at around 9:30 pm on Thursday (December 18) while undergoing treatment at the Singapore General Hospital.

On December 12, the day after the national election schedule was announced, miscreants shot and injured Osman Hadi from a moving motorcycle on Box Culvert Road in Purana Paltan, Dhaka. He was campaigning as an independent candidate for Dhaka-8 constituency. He was taken to DMCH Hospital in critical condition after being shot and later transferred to Evercare Hospital at the request of his family. He was later taken to Singapore for better treatment, but he breathed his last there.

Dr. Md. Abdul Ahad said in a video message, “Allah has accepted Sharif Osman Hadi, the strong voice of the July uprising, as a martyr. Even though he has passed away, his ideals will remain as our inspiration.”

Osman Hadi’s family, supporters and the country have been called upon to remain united.
