The namaz-e-janaza of Begum Khaleda Zia, the three-time former Prime Minister, BNP chairperson, and uncompromising leader of the democratic movement, was held at the outer premises of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban at 3 pm.
Abdul Malek, the imam of the National Mosque Baitul Mukarram, led the namaz-e-janaza.

Earlier, on Wednesday (December 31) at 12 noon, the body of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia was taken to Manik Mia Avenue.

Meanwhile, ordinary people and political activists from different parts of the country have been flocking to the capital Dhaka since morning to attend Khaleda Zia’s funeral prayers. Lakhs of people have already gathered in front of Manik Mia Avenue and the South Plaza of the National Parliament Building.

Begum Khaleda Zia will be buried with state honours at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar around 3:30 pm next to the grave of her husband, martyred President and valiant freedom fighter Ziaur Rahman.
