Missing Bangladeshi MP Anwarul’s body recovered from Kolkata

An MP from Bangladesh, Anwarul Azim, has allegedly gone missing after arriving in Kolkata for treatment five days ago, officials said on Tuesday. A search operation has been launched to trace the Awami League MP. His body was recovered from Sanjiva Garden in the Newtown area of Bidhannagar in West Bengal on Wednesday morning. Two people have been arrested in this incident.

On Wednesday (May 22), the Indian Embassy informed this information.

Anwarul Azim was the current MP of the Jhenaidah-4 Constituency.

MP’s Personal Assistant (PS) Abdur Rauf said, Azim, arrived in Kolkata on May 12. However, he has not contacted his family since then, and the MP’s phone has remained switched off since May 14.

Mumtarin Firdous, the daughter of MP Anwarul Azim, complained about her father’s disappearance with the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Intelligence Department on Tuesday. Then they raised the matter with Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and the Prime Minister’s office subsequently informed diplomats in Delhi and Kolkata, who conveyed it to the police.
