Seven senior police officers of the rank of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) have been promoted to Additional Inspector General.
This information was provided in a gazette notification issued by the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs on Monday.

The Additional IGs are:
APBN DIG Md. Ali Hossain Fakir, SB DIG G M Azizur Rahman, DMP Additional Police Commissioner (DIG) Md. Sarwar, Armed Police Battalion DIG Md. Mostafa Kamal, Police Department DIG Kazi Md. Fazlul Karim, Highway Police DIG Md. Rezaul Karim and Chattogram Range DIG Md. Ahsan Habib Palash.

The gazette states that after completing all the formalities mentioned in the letter No. 07.155.015.44.03.034.2010 (Part-2)-540 dated 09-10-2024 of the Expenditure Management-5 Branch of the Ministry of Public Administration and the Finance Department, the above officers were promoted against the seven newly created supernumerary posts.

It further says that if the posts become vacant due to promotion, retirement, removal or any other reason of the incumbent, the posts will be automatically abolished and the tenure of the seven supernumerary posts will be one year from the date of creation of the posts. The promoted officers will continue to perform their duties in their respective posts. This order, issued in the public interest, will come into effect immediately.
