Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (retd.) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said the government has announced a reward for recovering illegal weapons. The identities of those who recover weapons or help them will be kept secret.
He made the statement at a press conference at the Secretariat after a meeting of the core committee on law and order on Monday.

The Home Affairs Adviser said that there is a chance to get a reward ranging from Tk 500 to Tk 1.5 lakh for recovering illegal weapons. Tk 500 will be given for each bullet, Tk 5 lakh for LMG, Tk 1 lakh for China rifle, Tk 1.5 lakh for SMG, and Tk 50,000 for pistols and shotguns.

Earlier, Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said that all weapons looted before the elections will be recovered. He told reporters after visiting the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) cold storage, central seed laboratory and vegetable seed processing center on August 23.

The adviser said the interim government is working tirelessly to recover weapons. Law enforcement agencies are working around the clock to prevent the arrival of illegal weapons, not just in the context of the election. The border is now much more secure.

He also said that if the people are united in favour of the election, no conspiracy will succeed. All preparations have been made according to the time when Chief Adviser Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus spoke about the national election in February.
