Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of Inqilab Moncho and a prospective candidate for Dhaka-8 in the upcoming 13th national election, has been shot by armed assailants and is now in critical condition at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). In a moment of acute crisis, the Bangladesh Army stepped in to urgently collect and supply blood required for his treatment.
At around 2:45pm on Friday, assailants opened fire on Hadi in the Kalvert area of Bijoynagar in the capital. He suffered severe injuries and heavy bleeding after the attack.

According to the DMCH director’s office, Hadi remains in critical condition. A CT scan confirmed the presence of a bullet in his head, and he is currently undergoing neurosurgery.

Earlier, doctors said Hadi had suffered excessive blood loss and needed immediate blood transfusion. The Army arranged the required blood without delay.

Political colleagues accompanying Hadi told reporters outside DMCH that he urgently needed B-negative blood. As soon as this information became known, the Army swiftly arranged the emergency supply for his treatment.

Meanwhile, after news of the shooting spread, activists involved in the July uprising gathered at the hospital. They are now demanding the arrest and maximum punishment of those responsible for the attack on Sharif Osman bin Hadi.
