Multi-storey fire in Babubazar
A fire broke out at a 14-storey building in the Babubazar Bridge area of the capital. A total of nine units of the fire service worked to bring the blaze under control.
The information was confirmed in a statement issued by the Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence on Tuesday (23 December).
According to the statement, reports of the fire were received at 6:40am from the sixth floor of the 14-storey Haji Tower in Armanitola, adjacent to Babubazar Bridge in the capital Dhaka. Firefighters reached the scene at 6:45am and began operations to control the fire.
A total of nine units were deployed in the operation, including two units from Sadarghat Fire Station, five from Siddikbazar Fire Station and two from Sutrapur Fire Station.
The statement further said the fire was brought under control at 7:20am. However, the fire service could not immediately confirm details of any casualties or the extent of damage.
