Diplomats, representatives from 32 countries attend Khaleda Zia’s janaza
Ambassadors, high commissioners and heads of international organisations from various countries posted in Dhaka have left the Baridhara diplomatic area to attend the namaz-e-janaza of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.
They attended the namaz-e-janaza at Manik Mia Avenue in the capital on Wednesday (December 31) at 2 pm. Among the diplomats attending the funeral are US Charge d’Affaires Megan Boldin, British High Commissioner Sarah Cook, Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen, European Union Ambassador Michael Miller, and at least 32 diplomats and representatives.
Also present were Russian Ambassador-in-Charge Ekaterina Semenova, Japanese Ambassador Saida Shinchi, Canadian High Commissioner Ajit Singh, Australian High Commissioner Susan Ryle, and Swiss Ambassador Reto Siegfried Rengli.
In addition, ambassadors and high commissioners from the Netherlands, Libya, the Philippines, Singapore, Palestine, South Korea, Myanmar, Italy, Sweden, Spain, Indonesia, Norway, Brazil, Morocco, Iran, Algeria, Brunei, Thailand, Qatar, Denmark and Malaysia have participated in the janaza.
Along with diplomats, BIMSTEC Secretary General Indra Mani Pandey and World Food Programme (WFP) Acting Country Representative Simone Lawson Parchment were also present at the janaza.
